Fable 3 is one of my most anticipated games for me to play later this year. Too bad Microsoft didn’t feel the same way when they only showed a few minuets of the Kinetic support that the game will feature. Even though Fable 3 didn’t exactly have a time to shine in the conference doesn’t mean its not a dimming light at this years E3. On the floor the game couldn’t be anymore popular.

You first start off in the pacific town of Brightfall, which is your typical farming town that every RPG starts off in. Yet this town test the times of Albion giving that this game is set 50 years after the events of Fable 2 everything around Albion has becom Industrialized. You do have a Mass Effect 2 like save game import system, though the data that makes it across will be limit your choices of sex and some of the key decisions that apparently were already made in Fable II, without your knowledge.

You can play as two children pretty much-the good and the evil. One has become to be the evil tyrant of Albion, and the other as a lowly farmer who has ties to claim the throne. So pretty much with the later you are a revolutionary.

This decision forms the first half of the game, and while it retains much of Fable II’s system there have been some significant changes, the most radical of which is most certainly the new GUI. When Molyneux promised to do away with menus it wasn’t hyperbole; hit the start button and instead of being confronted with a sea of lists you’re instead booted into a 3D hub. One thing he was able to stick to his guns too.

Your castle acts as your menu for a good amount of the game. Here’s the butler – played by John Cleese oh how we love Monty Python – watches over as the player navigates a round room. At the center is the world map, and at the sides doorways lead into other ‘menus’. Take your map for example. Do you want to send out your Navy to invade the neighboring country. Well go over to your War room map and plan your strategy for invasion.

Say goodbye to these guys. Wait there still here?!

Equipping magic is a similar system. You get gauntlets in the game, and different gauntlets contain different spells, and to arm one you just slip it on. It’s also possible to combine spells in this way – wear a fire gauntlet on one hand and a lightning one on the other and your spells will be bring the two together, delivering a fireball with electricity. I mean come on who doesn’t like electric fireballs?

Then of course there is the big question. How will they use Kinetic? Well that question has already been answered with Peter saying that all you will do is touch, and its not that bad. Granted when I saw it, it still did not have me jumping out of my seat saying, “This is why I want to buy this game.” But it was at least some what impressive. With the touch someone you could do anything you can think of to simply hugging your avatars child, to taking a lowly peasant head and farting in his face, classic.

Dungeon

Then there was the combat. We were taken to a new continent called Aurora. Its a country engulfed in darkness. Stalked by shadows that seems alive and is patrolled by ink black demons with glowing eyes – which are perfect for practicing the more fluid set of attacks to hand in Fable III. It’s still the same mix-up of gunplay, swordplay and good old-fashioned magic but it’s been stripped back to good effect. Flourishes are unleashed by simply holding down the attack button, and the action is often underlined with cinematic swings and zooms of the camera.

Combat in-game

Co-op wasn’t talked about that much, but the last co-op, an admittedly half-hearted feature last time out, sounds much more promising in Fable 3 making it sound more like Red Deads Free Roam. Instead of playing as a sidekick to the main character it’s now possible for two heroes to play at once, and it extends further. It’s an option to marry the co-op partner, and two players can co-habit and share funds, weird.

Fable III hasn’t sold me yet, but it definitely has promise. There are many, that I am aware of, that are excited for the game. Not to say I have hated the past Fable games, but I’ve taught myself not to fall for Peter’s over emphasized games. But I will have to wait and see if this game truly and finally lives up to the hype that Peter creates for his Fables. Fable III comes out October 26th, 2010.

Tomorrow we will here the new big news about Fable 3, but the games creator Peter Molyneux says,” It’s going to really upset people,” and that is not good news. He made this claim during a Gamereactor International video, the direct quote that Molyneux stated is:

“We’re making a big announcement about Fable 3 in the next couple of weeks [at X10]…I hope I haven’t spoiled some horrible PR surprise. Gulp. We’ll be making some announcements about Fable 3 and there’s some, wow, there’s some very, very big things happening in Fable. Bigger than you think, and it’s going to really upset people. I’m really scared when I go out and tell people what it is, they’re going to get super pissed off. They really are. But it’s the right thing to do, man. I’m sure it’s the right thing.”

The showcasing for the big revelation for Fable 3 takes place tomorrow at Microsoft’s X10 event in San Francisco, CA, USA, where Microsoft plans to show off their upcoming efforts to innovate the 360. Molyneux has previously noted that “there’s something fundamentally wrong with RPGs like Fable,” and has claimed he will change that in 2010, stating that the third entry in the action-RPG series will,”take that foundation stone for RPG’s and throw it away.” Yet he did state similar claims that with some of his previous games.

Molyneux later confirmed that Fable 3 will include a micro-transaction system, so you will get 1 euro for a sword.

Peter discussing the possiblities of Natal in Microsofts reveal of the motion project

The game creator has also confirmed multiple times that it will support the Xbox 360′s upcoming motion-tracking add-on Project Natal, though it is currently unknown how he will implement the system into the game.

Fable 3 is in the final stages in production, and is track for it’s holiday 2010 release window.

My thoughts on what Capcom and Microsoft have up their sleeves.

You all know by now that Capcom & Microsoft have partnered to reveal something on the 26th. All signs it pointing to a new game. These are my predictions on what it could be in no particular order. (Please Note The Following Are Predictions And Are No Way To Be Considered Confirmed)

10) Partnership: Yea its not a new game but it’s still possible that all they are announcing is a partnership. Highly doubtful, but usually a BIG BIG game they will hype up a little more than 5 days.

9) XBL Game: Maybe its an exclusive Xbox Live title? I mean those Street Fighter Games preformed pretty well on XBL and a remade edition of Street Fighter 3 or Street Fighter Alpha 2 would make fans happy.

8.) Final Fight Remake: I would have to give hats off to MS if they make a Final Fight remake. With lets say the Resident Evil 5 graphics engine, alright maybe thats wishing but more likely the SFIV graphics engine would still be sweet.

7.) 360 Version Of Viewtiful Joe or Okami: This would make every fanboy erupt and possible explode, meanwhile making every Nintendo fan cry. It’s not completely likely yet not completely out of the question.

6) Devil May Cry 5: To me this is the most likely on the list. It preformed better on the 360 and it would anger a lot of Sony enthusiasts if Microsoft bought the rights to DMC5 and it seems all the more likely I think about it.

5) Maximo: The return of the underwear knight! Its possible and it would be geared to the hardcore and the casual, it could very well be a great game! Seriously….

4) Natal IP: What better way to announce a partnership than to smack a Natal game on there? People would love it and it would be the first full fledged Natal game.

3) Power Stone: Every Dreamcast fan would have a field day, and they would make a lot of money if it was a full fledged remake. Seriously I have all the ideas.

2) Capcom VS SNK: A remake with SFIV graphics would blow the socks off any fighting game currently out and im hoping guess is the right one. That would be amazing. Think about it people.

1) Mega Man Next: Maybe it’s an all new Mega Man title to capitalize on Mega Man 10′s release hype? Possible but unlikely. Would be amazing to see though.

Will any of these happen? Maybe. I’d put my money on the SNK and DMC5 but thats me. Give us your ideas in the forums and in the comments below. Peace.

Earlier today, Microsoft leaked information about its Consumer Electronics Show in 2010,

including an interview with the president of Entertainment and Devices President Robbie Bach. The video was posted for a short time on Microsoft’s Channel 9 until it was quickly taken down, as if it was posted by mistake.

In the interview, Robbie Bach discussed several highlights coming this upcoming year to Xbox live and the 360 console. One that he discussed was the idea of a Game Room, in which people will have the ability to play retro-themed games.

Perhaps the biggest news of all was the leak of Project Natal. According to Bach, Natal is preparing for a debut in 2010, making its release less than a year away. Project Natal is a noted as being “a revolutionary new way to play: no controller required. See a ball? Kick it, hit it, trap it or catch it. If you know how to move your hands, shake your hips or speak you and your friends can jump into the fun — the only experience needed is life experience.”

The Microsoft CES conference is being broadcast live tonight over the web, and the keynote speaker at the conference is going to be Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, as well as Robbie Bach.
