Prison Break Preview

The very popular TV show Prison Break seems like it would almost be the ideal videogame and after playing the first 4 sections of the game i can see it will. It has all the elements necessary to make a great game, such as stealth, action, tension, and good writing. Though the tricky part is doing a good job of translating all of those elements onto a medium that isn’t related to Hollywood. Most TV programs have more story than action, so turning them into a game would be hard, the more exciting action scenes the game adds, the less its like the hit TV show.  Luckly the developer Zootfly, who created the project, have done just that.

I personaly never watched Prison Break so, i got my friend to help me with the story. More or less  the game follows the story of the first season, the game puts you into the shoes of Agent Tom Paxton. You are sent out to the Fox River State Penitentiary to find out everything you can about prisoner Michael Scofield. In the show, Paxton looks into why Scofield decided to become a bank robber out of the blue, never even having a past criminal record, and for the game you get to witness key events from the eyes of Tom Paxton, so if your not a Prison Break fan, the game fills you in with the details from the start.

If you are a fan the shift in perspectives feel genuine, the game’s story and game design was actually developed with the help of the show’s writers. You get to see a new side of the Prison Break experience, cutscenes of these key moments bring an all new vantage point for the fan to see.

Gameplay will consist of stealth missions which are very well designed giving you more ways than one to get through the mission using multiple solutions. Action will consist of close-quarters hand-to-hand combat that features an assortment of special and finishing moves – the mechanics feel smooth and fluid but can sometimes get tricky when near objects. In addition, Zootfly promises an interactive environment that’ll help develop your character. From what i have played it seems to be the case, the enviroments look fantasitc, very detailed, and if it wasnt for the case i was running or getting hunted there would be plenty to see.

For you perfectionists, achievements and trophies are promised for both versions of the game, so worry not. Furthermore, to help ensure the Prison Break atmosphere is proper, nearly every single actor from the series has contributed his/her voice for the game.Visually, I doubt many will be  shocked by the graphics the game has to offer, its about the going rate at the moment for games, but the developer can offer a compelling experience that plays well, so we can always overlook aesthetics. If not, the shock twists will be sure to tide you over.

Prison Break will launch  March 26th.

If your not a Prison Break fan its still worth a buy and if you are, get your pr-order in now!

I’ll be sure to post a full review when the full game is in my hands.
