The 5 Failures Of White Knight Chronicles

White Knight Chronicles is an exclusive Playstation 3 JRPG. Many people were hyped about this game and for all the right reasons. If you take a closer look at the game, though, you will see that it’s full of false promises and lost hope. The game had a lot of potential with its online capabilities, but in the end, it was uneven.

5.) Graphics Are Sub-Par- White KNight’s graphics are comparable to any Final Fantasy game on the PS2 which is a bad thing mind you because we are now in PS3 era. It’s not just the graphics as a whole because the cutscenes are pretty well off, but the lip movement does not in ANY way coordinate with the words spoken in the game! It’s almost like they didn’t even care when they ported it over to the US.

4.) It’s Been Done- Between the battle system and the leveling up grid. It seems to copy many elements from previous Final Fantasy installments. The battle system is real time but its just waiting for your bar (circle) to fill up till you can attack again. The only new implement is the White Knight itself and even that can be seen as a skewed version of a summon.

3.) Little To No Story- The story tries to make you care at first by creating your own character, but it doesn’t help at all. The story has been seen many times, its simply another good vs evil story with no real deep thought put into it. Too bad.

2.) Character Creation Amounts To Nothing- Usually when a player creates a character, especially in an RPG they know they are in for the long haul and they know they will make a big difference in the outcome as a major character. However in WKC, your created character simply sits in the back, a boring lifeless MUTE. There is really no point to create a character, it was just a very unneeded game feature. The main character is Lenoard who is a OK character but again, what story?

1.) Feels Like FFXII- It’s sad that such a big name release on Sony’s platform could look and FEEL like a last-gen game. Not that FFXII was a bad game; far from, actually. It’s just that it’s 2010; we expect more from them. The game had such potential but the game feels so last gen. Do yourself a favor: either skip it altogether and wait for FFXIII. Or, if you must… rent/wait until it’s a Greatest Hits.

In the end, this game was a great effort but from the looks of the trailer for WKCII, this was just a practice run.

  1. The character creation is for online mode. which is the strength of the game. SP is forgettable.

  2. Most of these complaints can be leveled at all JRPGs, including Final Fantasy. Authors really seem to be jumping on the ‘hate’ bandwagon these days, thinking of any reason possible to be critical of a game. Look, innovation isn’t absolutely necessary in order for a game to be worthwhile. Also, its quite difficult to innovate any more as most things have already been done at one point or another.

The visuals aren’t as bad as you make them out to be, and the game isn’t a copy of FF XII and doesn’t “feel” like it at all. And as the poster above stated, character creation is mainly for online mode. So that really leaves you with one valid complaint: The lip animation during speech is terrible, which is hardly a huge fault by itself.

  3. Same problem with most ps3 games, just potential. Reminds me of the dreadful Demons Souls, got it cuz of the fanboys reviews on major sites, but it is a steaming pile.

  4. LOL, Mandoca must be retarded. At least PS3 games have quality, 360 games don’t have quality or even the potential of quality. That is why a good game like Uncharted 2 won GOTY and the last – gen trash on the 360 didn’t even get a mention.

Oh yeah and the last thing 360 fanboys should be talking about are graphics. EVERY game on the Xbox 360 looks like a PS2 game when compared to Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2.

As for the “It’s been done before.” argument. The same can be said about the steaming pile of last – gen trash you call Mass Effect 2. ME 2′s story is nothing but a copy/paste job from Star Trek and the combat system is a poorly – done mash of Final Fantasy and Uncharted. The lack of quality games on the 360 make Mass Effect 2 appear to be better than it is. Fanboy reviews give it a high score but it’s probably been the most returned game of this generation.

  5. @macPhail and mandoca. You both need to STFU. For one Demons Souls is a love it or hate it game, but it surely is not a steamy pile. For 2, both 360 and PS3 have GOOD graphics for their respective exclusives. Lastly, it saddens me that there are retards like the two of you that make up a small portion of gamers.

And for the record, Mass Effect 2 is a damn good game whether you like it or not. Fanboy reviews!? LMAO You two “sirs” are the fanboys.

  6. Thank god ignorant, hypocritical retards like All Alone make up an even smaller portion of gamers. You come on here crying and swearing about how we are not mature and you are……..yet if you were really so mature you wouldn’t have responded in the first place. You need to STFU and not be such a turd.

  7. ive got this game and it does make final fantasy online look like a pixel game lol. the poster says the character for sp isnt the main but isnt that something new as in most rpg’s you play the main character and something inside says “whats it like from his eyes”, my over all opinion is dont knock this game until you try it.

its not a replacement of ff13 nore is it a stepping stone so when you look at this dont judge based on square enix games and quality
