Beat Hazard Review
If I was only granted two words to sum up ‘Beat Hazard’ they would be “Geometry Wars” although the game is indeed an enjoyable experie
nce, it is very similar to ‘Geometry Wars.’
Beat Hazard is a simple space shooter where you must survive the duration of the song by destroying all incoming asteroids & space craft’s. By destroying them, you will earn additional bonuses that will make your weapon more powerful, this is a nice addition to the game however it can cause two problems. One: The power boost of this weapon causes a lot of strobe lighting which can obscure your vision of any incoming missiles & asteroids. Two: For those of you with a history of photo-sensitive epilepsy, this game has the potential to cause seizures although when the game starts, you are prompted with a warning screen regarding this very issue.
Unfortunately there is no online multiplayer, you do have the option of playing two player split-screen but the lack of any online competitive multiplayer is a bit of a disappointment.
The game progresses by completing the number of songs on each album & as you progress through the albums the songs become longer & more difficult. One thing that can extend the life of this game is the fact that you can add your own custom soundtrack into the game & play it using your own music.
The game itself can be enjoyable however; the lack of features & online multiplayer ruins any possibility of anyone playing this game for an extensive period of time. I would recommend giving this game a miss simply because it doesn’t have a lot to offer, I’ve played demo’s that have had more content than this game.
